Motivation

Obviously, there is a great deal of text material “out there”, some of which may be useful as hypertext. Existing text most commonly occurs as word processing documents.

Advantages
The original text file will require some preliminary editing, but the advantages of importing text versus cutting and pasting can be overwhelming, especially if you have a lot of text. On the down side, all character styles are lost in the ASCII format.

One other point which needs to be made is that you may prefer to write using a word processor, even if your real objective is to place your text in HyperCard stacks. Dock Import makes this easy to do.
